DeMelo Quietly Piles Up Helpers in Jets' Win Over Vancouver
The Winnipeg defenceman set up two even-strength goals as the Jets beat the Canucks 6-2 at home.
Dylan DeMelo did not light the lamp, but the Winnipeg Jets defenceman had a hand in the offence. He finished with two assists, both at even strength, in a 6-2 win over Vancouver.
He played 19:30 over 28 shifts, fourth among Winnipeg's 18 skaters and fourth among the team's six defencemen. He put two shots on goal and blocked two shots. He had no hits, takeaways, giveaways or penalty minutes.
The plus-minus tells the rest of it: he was plus 4 on the night, so Winnipeg outscored Vancouver by four goals while he was on the ice.
That is a departure for a player with one goal and seven assists through 17 games. His two assists tonight bring him to eight points on the season. His ice time was a little under his season average of 20.4 minutes.
For a Jets team that is 5-8-3, it was an easy night at home, and DeMelo was part of it.
