Draisaitl Goes Pointless as Oilers Blank Calgary
The Edmonton star logs the most ice time among his forwards but leaves the scoring to others in a Battle of Alberta shutout.
Leon Draisaitl didn't make the score sheet in the Oilers' 4-0 win over the Flames. No goals, no assists, and a plus-minus of zero.
He was still busy. His 19:06 of ice time was the most of any Edmonton forward and fourth among the team's 18 skaters, over 23 shifts. He put two shots on goal and had eight shot attempts, all at even strength. He added one takeaway against two giveaways, with no hits, no blocks and no penalties.
That is a step down from his season pace. He came in with 12 goals and 12 assists in 13 games, and he averages 21.7 minutes a night, so this was a little under his usual workload. Six of his goals this year have come on the power play, but he had no points there this time.
The night belonged to others. Edmonton won comfortably and kept Calgary's four-game winning streak from reaching five, lifting its record to 9-2-2 by the standings math. Draisaitl was on the ice for a shutout without adding to the tally himself.
