Dickinson Blocks Shots and Banks a Win in Montreal
The Sharks defenceman stays off the scoresheet as San Jose escapes the Bell Centre with a 4-3 overtime victory.
Sam Dickinson did not show up on the scoresheet, but he was in the thick of a 4-3 overtime win for the Sharks over the Canadiens. The defenceman played 20:15 over 27 shifts, fifth among San Jose's 18 skaters and fourth among its six defencemen.
He had no points and no shots on goal, though he attempted four shots at even strength. His work came on the defensive side: two blocked shots, one hit and one takeaway, against one giveaway. He finished -1, a small blemish on a night his team won.
This fit his season more than it broke from it. Through eight games he has one assist, no goals and six shots, so a quiet line is nothing new. His 20:15 was above his season average of 18.6 minutes per game.
San Jose moves to 5-4-1 after the win, snapping a one-game losing streak.
