Sherwood Hits Everything in Sight as Sharks Win in OT
San Jose edges Montreal 4-3 in extra time, with a physical night from a forward who finished even on the ice.
Kiefer Sherwood did his work with his body and one pass. The Sharks forward finished with an assist, two shots on goal, a blocked shot and seven hits in 16:14 of ice time, as San Jose beat Montreal 4-3 in overtime.
His minutes ranked 11th among the 18 Sharks skaters and fifth among the team's 12 forwards. That is ordinary work, not a team-high shift load. His point came at even strength, where he had two shots on goal and three shot attempts. He was even on the ice, took no penalties and had no giveaways or takeaways.
The hit total stands out. He had 56 hits through 10 games this season, so seven in one night is a big share of that total.
It was a small contribution in a one-goal win, but a visible one.
