Swayman’s Saves Decide a Tight Boston Win
He stood tall on Winnipeg’s best looks while Winnipeg’s goalie allowed more of the dangerous chances he faced
Jeremy Swayman was the difference—he stopped every shot he faced and turned aside a cluster of the Jets’ highest-quality looks to preserve Boston’s win.
He finished the night with 24 saves on 24 shots and delivered 6.25 goals saved above expected, a measure that says he stopped far more than the chances were worth. His high-danger save rate was also excellent, keeping Winnipeg’s best looks off the board.
By contrast the Jets’ goalie allowed more of those dangerous chances to go in despite making several stops; that split is what tilted the game.
