Burns Fires Twice, Sits Two in Colorado's Overtime Loss
The Avalanche defenceman picks up a takeaway and a penalty in a 3-2 extra-time loss to Nashville at home.
Brent Burns finished without a point as Colorado fell 3-2 to Nashville in overtime. The Avalanche defenceman logged 15:24 over 22 shifts, ranking 10th among the team's 18 skaters and fifth among their six defencemen.
He put two shots on goal, both at even strength, from five shot attempts. He also had one takeaway, no giveaways and two penalty minutes. He finished even, with no hits and no blocked shots.
That is a quiet line next to his season. Burns has six assists and no goals through 17 games, and he averages 16.4 minutes, so this was a little under his usual ice time. His 19 blocked shots this year make the empty block column stand out.
The Avalanche (9-6-1) took a point and now carry a one-game losing streak. Burns did not decide this one either way.
