Necas Sets One Up, but Nashville Edges Colorado in Overtime
The Avalanche forward logged big minutes and a plus night, yet Colorado dropped a one-goal decision to the Predators.
Martin Necas finished with an assist, a plus 1 and three shots on goal in 23:37 of ice time, but Colorado lost 3-2 in overtime to Nashville.
That ice time ranked fourth among the 18 Avalanche skaters and second among the team's 12 forwards. All of his production came at even strength: the assist and all three shots. On the power play he put up one shot attempt and no points. He also added two hits, one takeaway and one giveaway over 22 shifts.
It was a modest night by his season standard of 7 goals and 12 assists in 17 games. The 23:37 was well above his 19.9 minutes per game average. Even so, one point was not enough to get Colorado past a Predators club that now sits second in the Western wild-card chase.
For Necas, it was a busy, useful night that ended without the extra point.
