MacKinnon Logs Heavy Overtime Night Without a Point
Colorado falls 3-2 to Nashville in extra time as its best-known forward stays off the score sheet.
Nathan MacKinnon went pointless in a 3-2 overtime loss to Nashville on Colorado's home ice. He finished with no goals, no assists and an even plus-minus.
He played 24:00 over 22 shifts, second among the Avalanche skaters and first among their 12 forwards. Even so, the offence never really came. He had one shot on goal and two shot attempts at even strength, plus one more attempt on the power play that did not reach the net.
The work showed up elsewhere: four hits and one blocked shot. He also gave the puck away once and took no penalties.
That is a quieter night than his season line of 9 goals and 18 assists in 17 games. The shot total is also well below his usual output, since he has 61 shots this season. Colorado now sits at 9-6-1 after taking a single point.
