Kucherov Quietly Picks Up an Assist in Lightning Home Win
Tampa Bay beats Winnipeg 6-4 at home, and the Jets' losing skid grows while Kucherov finishes with one helper and two giveaways.
Nikita Kucherov had a modest night in a high-scoring win: one assist, no goals and three shots on goal in 16:13 of ice time as Tampa Bay beat Winnipeg 6-4.
That ice time ranked 11th among the 18 Lightning skaters and sixth among their 11 forwards, so it was not a team-high shift load. His assist came at even strength, where he put two shots on goal on six attempts. He added one more shot on the power play but did not pick up a point there. He finished at even in plus/minus, with one hit, two giveaways and two penalty minutes.
Against his season, it was a step below his usual workload. He averages 20.8 minutes a game and has 15 points in 12 games, with four goals and 11 assists. The assist was his usual kind of contribution, but the giveaways added to a season total of 23.
The Lightning are now 5-0-0 at home this season, counting this win. The Jets remain 12th in the West.
