Scheifele Assists Three Times, but Jets Drop Tilt in Tampa
Winnipeg's forward racks up helpers without a shot on net as the Lightning hold on for a 6-4 win at home.
Mark Scheifele set up three goals for the Jets on Thursday night, and it still was not enough. Tampa Bay won 6-4 and Winnipeg left the barn with another loss.
Scheifele finished with three assists, no goals and a plus 1 rating. His 20:31 of ice time was the most of any Jets forward and third among all 18 Winnipeg skaters. None of the three points came on the power play, where he had no points. He did not register a shot on goal, and he had one blocked shot and one giveaway across 22 shifts.
For the season, he now has two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 13 games. Three assists in one night is a big chunk of that season total of nine helpers. His 20:31 sits just under his season average of 21.1 minutes.
Winnipeg is 4-5-3 and holds the sixth wild-card spot in the West. A three-assist night from its busiest forward could not drag it out of another one-night hole.
