Holmberg Sets Table, Then Seals It Into an Empty Net
Tampa Bay's forward added a late empty-netter to a three-assist night as the Lightning beat Winnipeg 6-4 at home.
Pontus Holmberg finished with four points in the Lightning's 6-4 win over the Jets, and only one of them came with a shot that meant anything on the scoreboard until the very end.
He played 17:24 over 22 shifts, tenth among Tampa Bay's 18 skaters and fifth among the team's 11 forwards. He was not the team leader in ice time.
The goal came at 18:29 of the third period, into an empty net. It was his only shot on goal. The three assists were two at even strength and one on the power play, and he finished plus 1. He also blocked a shot and gave the puck away once.
For the season, Holmberg's line reads 4 goals and 6 assists in 12 games, so four points in one night is a big jump for him. His average ice time is 14.5 minutes, and he played about three more than that here.
Tampa Bay is now 5-0-0 at home. Winnipeg, at 4-5-3, has lost another one.
