Celebrini Fires Away, but Sharks Fall to Buffalo
San Jose's top ice-time man tests the Sabres all night, but the Sharks can't find the net in a home loss.
Macklin Celebrini finished without a point in a loss to the Sabres, though he was hardly invisible. He played 24:59, the most of any Sharks skater and first among the team's forwards, over 22 shifts.
He put four shots on goal from eight shot attempts, all at even strength. He also had three takeaways against two giveaways, and finished minus one with no penalty minutes, hits or blocks.
The night sits in line with his season in some ways. He has 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in 11 games and averages 22.9 minutes, so this was a bit more ice time than usual. His season shot total is 44, which makes four in one night a sizable share.
With San Jose now 6-5-1, a scoreless night from its busiest skater was a quiet one on the sheet, even with the shots.
