Celebrini, Smith and Thompson each found a post, but Ellis and Buffalo held San Jose off the board in the end.

An iron hit is a shot that clips a post or crossbar and stays out. This game had three, all posts, and two belonged to San Jose.
Will Smith hit one early in the first. Tage Thompson answered for Buffalo late in the second. Macklin Celebrini rang one early in the third, from a night where his chances were worth 1.17 expected goals, meaning how many goals they should have produced. He had four shots on goal and no points.
Still, Buffalo won 2-0, with Colten Ellis stopping all 24 shots.
