Evans Lights the Lamp Twice in Montréal's Win Over Chicago
A shorthanded goal and an even-strength goal and assist give the Canadiens a lift on the road against the Blackhawks.
Jake Evans had a three-point night in Montréal's 4-1 win at Chicago: two goals and an assist, plus 4, in 17:12 of ice time.
The goals came in different situations. One was scored at even strength late in the first period, and one came shorthanded. His assist also came at even strength. He took only two shots on goal, and both went in. He added one takeaway and one giveaway, with no hits or blocks.
His ice time ranked seventh among the 18 Canadiens skaters and second among their 12 forwards. It was not a team high.
This was a clear step up from his season so far. The game accounts for all three of his season points, and his season total of 9 shots includes these two. In 10 games he averages 13.9 minutes, so he played more than usual here.
The win leaves Montréal at 4-3-2 and in the wild-card chase, with captain Nick Suzuki out.
