Posts and Crossbars Ring Loud as Sharks Escape Nashville 3-2
Stamkos and O'Reilly found the twine and the iron alike, while Saros held firm in another home loss for the Predators.
This one felt unfair from a Nashville seat. The Predators outshot San Jose 35-32, created chances worth almost exactly as much as the Sharks' did, and still watched the Sharks leave with a 3-2 win.
The frame of the net did plenty of the deciding. Pucks hit iron six times, on four posts and two crossbars. Those shots carried 3.18 expected goals, which is how many goals chances like that usually produce. Four of them belonged to Nashville: Alexander Kerfoot, Brady Skjei, Ryan O'Reilly and Steven Stamkos. San Jose's Collin Graf and Nolan Allan also rang it.
O'Reilly and Stamkos, on a line with Kerfoot, each scored too, and O'Reilly led Nashville forwards with five shots. Roman Josi fired eight shots in 28:32 of ice time.
Juuse Saros stopped 30 of 32 and kept Nashville in it. At the other end, Alex Nedeljkovic turned aside 33.
