Swayman Steals One for Bruins in Winnipeg

Connor dents iron, while Peterka and Lindholm supply the finishing Boston needed.

By MA Insights

The Boston Bruins won the knife fight inside the margins, riding Jeremy Swayman and a couple of timely finishes to a 4-3 road result over the Winnipeg Jets. Winnipeg had the better looks by expected goals, but Swayman turned dangerous chances into saves and gave Boston the runway it needed.

Swayman stopped 31 of 34, posting +0.55 goals saved above expected (how many more he stopped than the chances were worth). At the other end, Stuart Skinner finished 26 of 30, and Boston’s finishers did the rest: JJ Peterka buried one, Elias Lindholm added another, and David Pastrnak and Nikita Zadorov each stacked two assists.

The hidden swing came off the frame: there were three iron hits—Josh Morrissey and Kyle Connor for Winnipeg, Marat Khusnutdinov for Boston—worth 1.65 iron xG combined. Winnipeg also put more pucks on net, 34 to 30, and Connor was a menace with nine shots plus a goal and an assist, while Cole Perfetti chipped in an assist and four shots. The Jets pushed; the Bruins cashed the moments that mattered.
