Robertson's Second-Period Burst Lifts Dallas in Washington
Three goals inside six minutes of one period gave the Stars the cushion they needed to survive a wild finish against the Capitals.
Jason Robertson scored three times and added an assist in Dallas's 6-5 win at Washington, a four-point night in 17:05 of ice time.
All three goals came in the 2nd period, at 0:23, 3:18 and 5:43. Two came at even strength and one on the power play. He also set up another even-strength goal, so three of his four points came five-on-five. He put 5 shots on goal, 4 at even strength and 1 on the power play, and finished plus 2.
The minutes were not unusual: 17:05 ranked sixth among 18 Stars skaters and second among 12 forwards, but not the team high. It was below his season average of 19.7 minutes a game.
The night was a jump from his season line of 8 goals and 10 assists in 15 games. He had scored 5 goals before this game and now has 8. The Stars needed all of them, as Washington kept pushing back, and the win moves Dallas to 9-5-1.
