McDavid Strikes Early, Oilers Roll Past Rangers at the Garden

Edmonton stays perfect away from home while New York's slide continues in front of its own fans.

By MA Insights

Connor McDavid scored 50 seconds into the game and never really let up, finishing with a goal and an assist in the Oilers' 4-1 win at New York.

The goal came at even strength in the first period. He added a power-play assist, so his night split evenly: one point at even strength, one with the man advantage. He fired six shots on goal, five of them at even strength, and picked up a takeaway. He also finished plus 1.

He played 23:22, second among Edmonton's 18 skaters and first among the team's 12 forwards. That is right in line with his season average of 23.5 minutes a game.

The one blemish was three giveaways, a lot for one night given he has 21 across 15 games this season.

For the season, McDavid now has 9 goals and 30 assists for 39 points in 15 games. Edmonton improved to 6-0-0 on the road and holds the best record in the Pacific. The Rangers, 7-6-1 coming in, are still in the wildcard race but were stuck chasing from the first minute.
