McDavid Gets a Power-Play Helper as Oilers Blank Islanders 4-0
Edmonton's road run stays perfect on Long Island, with its biggest-minute forward adding one assist but no goal.
Connor McDavid did not score in Edmonton's 4-0 win over the Islanders, but he was on the ice more than any other Oiler. His 23:20 was a team high among 18 skaters and first among the club's 12 forwards.
He finished with one assist, three shots on goal, one hit and a plus 1. The assist came on the power play, where he also had one shot on goal. At even strength he had no points and two shots on goal. He also had two giveaways and no takeaways.
This was a normal night for his workload: he averages 23.5 minutes a game this season. The point total, though, is a small step back from his usual pace of 37 points in 14 games (8 goals, 29 assists). Tonight he played the role of helper while the Oilers won to improve to 5-0-0 on the road.
For the Islanders, now 7-4-2, it ended a two-game winning streak.
