Connor Cashes In on the Power Play, but Jets Sink in Florida
Winnipeg's lone bright spot came with the man advantage, and the Panthers still skated away with a 5-2 win at home.
Kyle Connor got the Winnipeg Jets on the board in the second period, but a 5-2 loss at Florida left his night with a bitter finish.
His goal came at 9:51 of the second on the power play. It was his only point of the game, and both of his shots on goal came with the man advantage. He finished minus 3, so he was on the ice for more goals against than the one he scored.
Connor played 20:44 over 22 shifts. That ranked third among the 18 Jets skaters and second among their 11 forwards, behind one teammate. He had no hits and no blocks, and he gave the puck away once.
The goal was his 11th of the season, and five of those have come on the power play. His 21.1 minutes a game this season means this was a normal workload for him. The scoring touch was familiar, too. The result, which extends Winnipeg's losing streak, was the part that did not fit.
The Jets are 4-6-3 and still in the wild-card chase, but this loss adds to a rough run.
