Bouchard Eats the Minutes, Finds No Points in Oilers' Shootout Loss
The Edmonton blueliner was a plus player and kept bodies in the lane, but Detroit took the extra-time tilt.
Evan Bouchard went without a point on a night the Oilers lost 4-3 to the Red Wings in a shootout, but he was on the ice more than anyone else on his team. His 31:20 was the most among Edmonton's 18 skaters and the most among its six defencemen, over 32 shifts.
He finished plus 2, with two shots on goal, three hits and three blocked shots. All of his shooting came at even strength: two shots on goal from six attempts. On the power play he had no shots on goal from two attempts, and he had no points at either strength.
That is a departure from his season line of 7 goals and 14 assists in 12 games, where he has averaged 26.5 minutes. This night he played about five minutes more than that average and did not add to the totals. He had no giveaways and no takeaways.
The loss leaves Edmonton at 8-2-1 going in, still first in the Pacific, with the Detroit result coming in the extra session.
