Draisaitl Sets Table but Oilers Fall to Detroit in a Shootout
The Oilers' power play never found a way through, and Edmonton's home tilt with the Red Wings ended 4-3 in the skills contest.
Leon Draisaitl logged 24:59 on 29 shifts, fourth among Edmonton's 18 skaters and second among the team's forwards, and finished with one assist in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Red Wings.
The assist came at even strength, where he put three shots on goal from six attempts. The power play was the quiet part: no shots on goal from five attempts, no points. He was even on the night (plus/minus 0), with two giveaways and no hits, blocks or takeaways.
That is a modest line for a player with 12 goals and 12 assists in 12 games this season. His 24:59 was also well above his 21.9 minutes a game. Six of his goals this year have come on the power play, which makes the blank there stand out.
The Oilers (8-2-1 before the game) still hold first in the Pacific, and they earned a point here. Draisaitl had the ice time and the looks, but not the finish.
