McDavid Logs Big Minutes, One Assist in Oilers' Shootout Loss
Edmonton drops a 4-3 decision to Detroit that went past regulation, and its best-known forward finished without a goal.
Connor McDavid finished with one assist on a night when Edmonton fell 4-3 to the Red Wings in a shootout. He played 25:46, second among Oilers skaters and first among the team's forwards, over 28 shifts.
The assist came at even strength. He put two shots on goal, one at even strength and one on the power play, and finished even in plus/minus. He had no hits, no blocks and no takeaways, and he gave the puck away once.
For McDavid, a single assist is an ordinary line. He came in with 8 goals and 26 assists in 12 games, 34 points in all, and averaged 23.8 minutes a night, so this was a bit more ice time than usual without a goal to show for it.
The point still counts for the Oilers, who sit first in the Pacific Division at 8-2-1 before this one-point result. Detroit, in the sixth wild-card spot, took the extra point.
