Connor Peppers Montréal's Net, Jets Still Come Up Short
Kyle Connor leaves empty-handed as the Canadiens hold on to beat Winnipeg 2-1.
Kyle Connor fired five shots on goal and finished without a point in Winnipeg's 2-1 loss to Montréal. He was minus one on the night.
He played 24:23, third among the Jets' 18 skaters and second among their 12 forwards, over 22 shifts. Three of the shots came at even strength and two on the power play. He also had three giveaways, with no hits, blocks or takeaways recorded.
That is a departure from his season line. Connor came in with 9 goals and 3 assists in 11 games, including four power-play goals, and he was plus 2. His 24:23 was also well above his season average of 21.3 minutes. Five shots is a busy night, but the puck did not go in, and the Jets could not find the goal that would have changed the outcome.
The loss leaves Winnipeg at 4-3-3 and still in the playoff race, holding the third wild-card spot.
