Draisaitl Finds the Twine Twice in a Lopsided Edmonton Loss
Two goals and a flood of shots for the Oilers forward, but Toronto's seven-goal night left the home crowd with little to cheer.
Leon Draisaitl scored twice and fired seven shots on goal, yet finished minus 2 as the Oilers lost 7-2 at home to the Maple Leafs.
He played 20:59 over 23 shifts, fourth among Edmonton's 18 skaters and second among the team's 12 forwards. One goal came on the power play. The other came in regulation too, with his two goals landing at 19:04 of the second period and 16:35 of the third. He had no assists, hits, blocked shots, giveaways or penalty minutes.
For Draisaitl, the shooting was ordinary. He has 42 shots through 11 games this season, and seven of them came in this one game. His two goals lift his season total to 12 goals and 23 points, with six of those goals on the power play.
The shots were there and the finishing came with them. The scoreboard simply got away from Edmonton, who sit first in the Western Conference at 8-2-1 and now carry a one-game losing streak.
