Game Summary

Red Wings Hand Lankinen a Long Night in Vancouver

Lucas Raymond scores twice, Detroit keeps clanging posts, and the Canucks can only manage a trickle of shots on their own ice.

By MA Insights

Detroit won this one the honest way. The Red Wings had the puck and the better looks for most of the night, and the 5-2 final in Vancouver reflects that.

The gap was obvious. Detroit outshot Vancouver 31-13. By expected goals (how many goals a team's chances were worth), the Red Wings created about 4.14, while the Canucks produced well under half that.

Lucas Raymond drove it. He scored two goals, added an assist and put five shots on net. His chances alone were worth more than a goal, 1.07 expected goals, so he earned his finish. He played on a line with Dylan Larkin and Michael Brandsegg-Nygård, who chipped in two assists.

It could have been worse for the Canucks. Detroit rang three posts, including shots from Alex DeBrincat and J.T. Compher.

Kevin Lankinen stopped 26 of 31 and got little help. Jonathan Lekkerimäki and Elias Pettersson scored for Vancouver.
