The Vancouver Canucks enter the offseason trying to reset after a busy summer that reshaped the bottom of the roster and added more size, experience, and competition for jobs. Recent reporting says the club moved on from several familiar pieces, then brought in Jamie Oleksiak, Luke Schenn, Paul Cotter, Brendan Gallagher, and other depth additions while also pushing younger talent forward through the draft and prospect pipeline. The result is a roster that looks deeper on paper but also less proven in certain areas, with questions still hanging over scoring consistency and the team’s overall ceiling.

The biggest storyline remains the health of Thatcher Demko, whose hip surgery has made his status one of the central issues of the offseason. Kevin Lankinen gives Vancouver stability behind him, but the Canucks will likely need Demko to be ready and effective if they want their goalie picture to settle quickly at training camp. Up front, Brock Boeser, Jake DeBrusk, Filip Chytil, Evander Kane, and Jonathan Lekkerimäki headline a group that has been rebalanced around more internal competition. On defense, Filip Hronek, Tom Willander, and Zeev Buium give the team a blend of established talent and upside, while management and coaching are focused on sorting out the mix before the Sept. 19 preseason game in Seattle.
