Game Summary

Hintz Strikes Twice as Stars Outlast Skinner in Overtime

Winnipeg's goalie kept a lopsided night close, but Dallas keeps its winning run alive while the Jets drop another one-goal game.

By MA Insights

Dallas had the puck coming at Winnipeg's net all night, and the only reason this one needed overtime was Stuart Skinner. The Stars won 3-2 at home, but it should not have been that close.

The Stars outshot the Jets 38 to 19, a two-to-one gap. Their chances were also far better. By expected goals, a measure of how many goals a team's chances were worth, Dallas created about 4.4 to Winnipeg's 2.3. Skinner stopped 35 of 38, including 14 of 17 from in close, and kept the Jets alive.

Roope Hintz finally broke through with two goals on five shots. He played alongside Jason Robertson and Tyler Seguin, and Robertson set up two goals. Wyatt Johnston added a goal and an assist and also rang a post. Winnipeg's Dylan Samberg hit iron too.

Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi scored for the Jets. Winnipeg went 0 for 4 on the power play, though, and that hurt in a game this tight.
