Scheifele Logs the Biggest Minutes on a Jets Night That Ends in OT
Winnipeg's forward is held off the sheet as Dallas wins it in overtime and the Jets drop a second straight.
Mark Scheifele went without a point in Winnipeg's 3-2 overtime loss at Dallas, but he was on the ice more than any other Jets forward: 23:40 over 26 shifts, second among the team's 18 skaters.
He finished with two shots on goal, one hit, one blocked shot and one takeaway, with no giveaways and no penalties. Both shots came at even strength, where he also had four shot attempts in all. He added one more attempt on the power play, but nothing reached the net there. He finished even in the plus-minus.
That is a quieter night than his season line suggests. Through 10 games he has two goals and six assists for eight points, with 18 shots, and he averages 20.8 minutes a night. Tonight he played almost three minutes above that.
The loss leaves Winnipeg at 4-3-2 and on a two-game skid, still holding a wildcard spot. The Jets are searching for goals, and Scheifele's night produced chances but no points.
