Scheifele Gets Close but Jets Fall 2-1 in St. Louis
Winnipeg's loss to the Blues ends a night in which the Jets' forward was on the ice for the lone goal for and none against.
Mark Scheifele went without a point in St. Louis, and the Jets lost 2-1 to the Blues. It was a quiet night on the scoresheet, but not a bad one.
He played 20:56, fourth among Winnipeg's 18 skaters and second among the team's forwards, over 20 shifts. He put two shots on goal, all at even strength, on three shot attempts. He added one hit, one takeaway and one giveaway, and finished plus-1, so Winnipeg's goal came with him on the ice and the Blues' did not.
For the season, he has two goals and six assists in nine games, so a blank sheet is a break from how his year has gone. His 20:56 was close to his season average of 20.5 minutes a night. He still carries a lot of the offence, and the Jets could not turn that into a win here, a second straight loss for a team now 4-2-2.
