Panarin Ends Kings' Skid With a Three-Point Night in Washington

Los Angeles finally gets on the board in the win column, 5-2 over a Capitals team that had won two straight.

By MA Insights

Artemi Panarin gave the winless Kings what they had been missing: a forward who finished the night with three points (one goal, two assists) in a 5-2 win at Washington. All of it came at even strength, and he was a plus-3.

He played 16:50 over 19 shifts, which ranked 9th among the 18 Kings skaters and 4th among their 12 forwards. He put three shots on goal, with five attempts in all. His goal came late in the first period, at 19:58.

The night was not entirely clean. He gave the puck away twice and had no hits, blocks or takeaways. No power-play points either.

For the season, it was a jump. He came in with four goals and three assists through seven games, and this one night added three points to a total of seven. His 16:50 was also well below his 21.3 minutes a game this season.

The result matters most for Los Angeles, who entered 0-4-2 and a minus-13 goal difference. This was their first win of the year.
