Bruins' Power Play Spoils a Busy Ducks Night in Anaheim
Anaheim had the puck more, shot more and created slightly better chances, yet Boston left Honda Center with a 4-2 win and its streak at three.
The Ducks attempted 71 shots to Boston's 45 and outshot them 27-22. By expected goals (how many goals a team's chances were worth), Anaheim edged it 3.55 to 3.16. That is roughly a tie on quality, not a beating.
Special teams split the night. Boston scored on 3 of 4 power plays. Anaheim went 0 for 5.
In goal, Michael DiPietro stopped 25 of 27, including nine of the ten shots from the most dangerous areas. Lukas Dostal made 18 saves on 22 shots and gave up more than Boston's chances deserved.
The iron rang three times. David Pastrnak and Elias Lindholm each hit it, and each still finished with a goal and an assist. Leo Carlsson hit it for the Ducks. Cutter Gauthier led Anaheim with 4 shots and an assist.
