TEAM EDITORIAL

The Anaheim Ducks enter the 2026 offseason with a reshaped roster, tighter cap space, and a clear emphasis on locking in their young core before training camp. Their summer has been defined by major contract business around Leo Carlsson, Pavel Mintyukov, Tyson Hinds, and other depth pieces, while the front office also added veteran help such as A.J. Greer, Nick Jensen, Laurent Brossoit, and Jeff Malott to stabilize the lineup.

There has also been real turnover, with reports of a busier-than-planned reset on the back end and further uncertainty around Cutter Gauthier’s next deal. At the same time, the Ducks have continued to stock the system, including the late-summer acquisition of prospect Cruz Lucius from Pittsburgh, while their 2026 draft class has added more long-term upside to an already young group. The team still has talent up front with Troy Terry, Frank Vatrano, Alex Killorn, Mikael Granlund, Chris Kreider, and newcomer Ryan Poehling giving the roster more experience.

In goal, Lukas Dostal remains the most important internal anchor, with Laurent Brossoit, Petr Mrazek, Ville Husso, Damian Clara, and Vyacheslav Buteyets rounding out a crowded crease. With only one preseason game currently notable on the calendar, a Sept. 20 home meeting with the San Jose Sharks, Anaheim’s focus is less on results and more on resolving contracts, integrating newcomers, and seeing how a deeper but still unsettled roster comes together.
