Cooley's Hat Trick Not Enough as Mammoth Fall in Overtime

Utah's forward finds the net three times at the Bell Centre, but Montreal grabs the extra point in a 5-4 finish.

By MA Insights

Logan Cooley scored a hat trick and added an assist for four points, yet Utah still lost 5-4 in overtime to Montreal. He finished minus one.

He played 19:31 over 25 shifts, fifth among Utah skaters and second among the team's forwards. Three of his four points came on the power play: two goals and an assist. His other goal came at even strength. He put three shots on goal, and all three goals came in regulation, two in the first period and one in the second. He also had two hits, a giveaway and two penalty minutes.

Three goals on three shots is a big departure from his season, where he has 11 goals and 21 points through 17 games. Tonight he nearly matched his power-play goal total for the year (four) in one game.

The Mammoth, 10-6-0 coming in, left Montreal with a point and not the win. Cooley did everything a forward could do to earn two.
