Finnie Logs Big Minutes but Can't Break Through in Detroit Loss to Vegas
The Red Wings fall to the Golden Knights 2-1 at home, and a forward who has found the net all season goes without a point.
Emmitt Finnie finished without a point in the Red Wings' 2-1 home loss to the Golden Knights, a quiet night despite plenty of ice time.
He played 21:00 over 24 shifts, fifth among Detroit skaters and second among the team's forwards. That is well above his season average of 18.3 minutes a game. He put two shots on goal, one at even strength and one on the penalty kill, and added one hit. He also gave the puck away twice, had no takeaways and finished even in plus/minus.
It was a departure from his season line of seven goals and four assists in 17 games, a scoring pace built on 37 shots. This time the shots were there, but nothing went in. In a one-goal game, that was a missing piece for a Detroit team that sits 11th in the East at 7-7-3.
The night was ordinary on the scoresheet: no points, no penalties, and no goal to show for the extra work.
