Ehlers Peppers Nashville's Net, but Carolina Skates Off Beaten
The Hurricanes' four-game winning run ends in Music City, where the Predators pull away 4-1 at home.
Nikolaj Ehlers put the puck on the net and came away with nothing to show for it as Carolina lost 4-1 at Nashville. It was a quiet night on the score sheet: no goals, no assists, and a plus/minus of zero.
He logged 18:57 over 18 shifts, seventh among the team's 18 skaters and fourth among its 12 forwards. That is more than his season average of 16.2 minutes a game. He fired three shots on goal, and the only other mark was one giveaway. He had no hits, no blocked shots and no takeaways.
The quiet line is a departure for a forward who has four goals and 10 assists in 17 games, including six power-play points. This game had no power-play production from him.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Hurricanes, who are still first in the Eastern Conference at 12-2-2. Ehlers did his part getting pucks through, but this time the offense never followed.
