Scheifele Logs Team-High Minutes as Jets Win Late in Montreal
Two helpers and a plus rating for the Winnipeg forward, who was on the ice more than anyone, as the Jets end a skid at the Bell Centre.
Mark Scheifele was the busiest skater on the ice for Winnipeg and had a hand in the win. The Jets beat Montreal 5-4 in overtime, and Scheifele finished with two assists, a plus 1 rating and three shots on goal.
His 28:09 of ice time was the most of any Jets skater, and the most among the team's 11 forwards. He took 26 shifts. One of his two assists came on the power play. He also had one takeaway, one hit and two penalty minutes, with no giveaways.
For the season, Scheifele now has 2 goals and 12 assists in 16 games, so a two-assist night fits the way his production has gone: he sets up far more than he scores. His usual ice time is 21.5 minutes a game, which makes this a night well above his norm.
The win snaps a slide for a Jets team that came in 1-7-2 over its last ten games and sits at 5-8-3. Scheifele did not score, but he was on the ice for a lot of it.
