Perfetti Peppers Montreal, Jets Escape With Overtime Win
Winnipeg's 5-4 overtime road win comes with a forward who kept firing but never found the scoresheet.
Cole Perfetti didn't land on the scoresheet, but he was hard to miss. The forward put six shots on goal in 21:03 of ice time as Winnipeg beat Montreal 5-4 in overtime.
That ice time ranked fifth among the Jets' 18 skaters and fourth among their 11 forwards, so he was not the team leader. He finished plus one with a hit, a blocked shot and one giveaway, and no points, including none on the power play.
Six shots is a big number for him. He has 49 shots over 16 games this season, about three a night, so this was roughly double his usual volume. His ice time was also above his season average of 18.7 minutes.
The pucks didn't go in, which keeps his season line at six goals and five assists. Still, his on-ice work this year has favoured Winnipeg: the Jets have had the better of the high-danger chances while he is out there. On a night the team needed to find a way, he kept shooting, and the Jets got the win.
