Wolf Steals Two Points From the Sharks in San Jose
Calgary grabs only its second road win as Klapka and Stromgren find the net and Will Smith finds only the post.
San Jose had the puck, the shots and most of the night's pressure, and Calgary still left with a 2-1 win. The difference was Dustin Wolf.
The Sharks outshot the Flames 27-22 and fired far more pucks toward the net overall, with 71 shot attempts to Calgary's 41. The Flames got through it more than they controlled it, blocking 20 shots along the way. Wolf stopped 26 of 27, including 7 of the 8 shots from the most dangerous areas. By goals saved above expected, which compares the goals he allowed to what the shots he faced were worth, he came in at +1.85. In plain terms, he took away nearly two goals.
At the other end, Adam Klapka scored and set one up. He played on a line with William Stromgren, who scored the other goal, and Jonathan Castagna, who had two assists.
The one Sharks look that beat Wolf and still stayed out belonged to Will Smith, whose shot rang off the post.
The win was only Calgary's second on the road, improving the Flames to 2-5-0 away from home.
