Necas Goes Quiet on the Scoresheet as Avalanche Cruise in Chicago
A plus night with one shot and a trip to the box, while Colorado picks up a road win over the Blackhawks.
Martin Necas didn't show up on the scoresheet in Chicago, and that's fine: the Avalanche won 5-2 at the Blackhawks' barn anyway, and he finished plus 1.
He had no goals and no assists, with one shot on goal (three shot attempts, all at even strength). He played 16:28 over 18 shifts, ninth among the 18 Colorado skaters and fifth among the team's 12 forwards. He also took 2 penalty minutes, and he had no hits, blocks, takeaways or giveaways.
That's a step down from his usual load. He is averaging 19.7 minutes a game this season and has 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists) in 15 games, so this was a shorter, quieter night than normal.
The win lifts the Avalanche on the road, where they were 2-4-0 coming in, while Chicago is 0-5-1 on the road and 4-9-1 overall. Necas was along for the ride rather than driving it.
