MacKinnon Sets the Table on the Power Play in Chicago
Colorado's road woes ease with a win over the winless-away Blackhawks, even as the puck keeps slipping off his stick.
Nathan MacKinnon had a quiet scoresheet night in Colorado's 5-2 win at Chicago: no goals, one assist, plus 1, and two shots on goal in 19:25 of ice time.
That ice time ranked fourth among 18 Avalanche skaters and second among the team's 12 forwards. It was not the team high.
The point came on the power play. At even strength he had no points and no shots on goal, with two shot attempts. Both of his shots came with the man advantage.
He also had one takeaway and one hit, but gave the puck away four times. That is a lot for one night against his season total of 26 giveaways in 15 games.
He has 9 goals and 25 points this season, so a one-point night without a goal is about an ordinary evening for him. The Avalanche moved to a two-game winning streak and picked up a road win. They are now 2-4-0 away from home.
