Makar Assists on Four as Colorado Handles Calgary at Home
The Avalanche blue line is thin after Josh Manson's ankle injury, and Makar logged the most ice time of any skater in the 5-2 win over the Flames.
Cale Makar finished the night with four assists and a plus 4 as the Avalanche beat the Flames 5-2 at home. He did not score, but he was part of almost everything good for Colorado.
All four of his points came at even strength. He had no power-play points, though he put one of his three shots on goal on net with the man advantage. He played 24:27 over 23 shifts, the most of any Colorado skater and the most among the team's six defencemen.
For the season, Makar now has 15 points in 13 games, with 3 goals and 12 assists. A four-assist night is a clear step up from that pace. His shot total of three was in line with his season output of 37 shots over 13 games.
The night had no hits and no blocked shots, and no takeaways or giveaways. With Josh Manson out for roughly eight weeks, the Avalanche leaned on Makar on the blue line, and he delivered in the win. Colorado is 7-5-1 and 5-1-1 at home.
