MacKinnon Cashes In Early, Then Feeds the Power Play in Colorado Romp
The Avalanche forward adds a plus three night to a 5-2 home win over Calgary and keeps pace in the Central race.
Nathan MacKinnon finished with a goal and an assist, a plus 3 rating and five shots on goal in 19:06 of ice time as the Avalanche beat the Flames 5-2 at home.
The goal came at even strength in the first period, at 14:13. The assist came on the power play, where he also fired three of his five shots. At even strength he had two shots on goal and three shot attempts, so most of his shooting came with the man advantage.
His 19:06 ranked fifth among Colorado's 18 skaters and third among the team's 12 forwards. It was not the team high, and it was a bit under his season average of 20.6 minutes a game.
The two points fit his season. He now has 9 goals and 15 assists in 14 games. One blemish: a giveaway, his only one on the night, in a season that has seen 23 of them.
Colorado improves to 5-1-1 at home and is still in the playoff race at 7-5-1 after 13 games.
