Celebrini Goes Quiet as Senators Run Past San Jose
The Sharks' go-to forward logs the most ice time among his forwards but leaves the Senators' net untouched in a lopsided home loss
Macklin Celebrini had a quiet night in a 5-1 loss to the Senators at home. He finished without a point, was minus 2, and had 2 shots on goal, one at even strength and one on the power play.
He played 19:43 over 21 shifts. That was fourth among San Jose skaters and the most of any Sharks forward. He also gave the puck away twice and had no hits, no blocked shots and no takeaways.
That is a departure from his season line of 5 goals and 11 assists in 13 games, and from his usual 22.6 minutes a night. He had no power-play points here, after 8 on the year.
The Sharks are 7-6-1, fourth in the Pacific and still in the playoff race. This was a night when their top-minute forward did not get on the sheet.
