Burns Sets Up Two as Avalanche Handle Devils 5-2
The Colorado defenceman also blocked four shots in a home win over New Jersey, which came in on a four-game winning streak.
Brent Burns finished the night with two assists, plus 2, four shots on goal and four blocked shots in Colorado's 5-2 win over New Jersey. He logged 17:29 over 24 shifts, eighth among the team's 18 skaters and fifth among the six Avalanche defencemen.
Both of his points came at even strength, and he put eight shot attempts toward the net, four of which hit the target. He also had two hits, one giveaway and two penalty minutes.
The night stands out against his season line. Before this game he had five assists in 13 games and no goals. Four shots in one game is a notable share of his 19 on the year. He also had no power-play points and no power-play time, so all of this came at even strength.
The result gave Colorado a home win over a Devils team that arrived with four straight victories. Burns's two assists and plus 2 were part of it.
