Necas Peppers the Net, but Colorado's Win Skips His Line
The Avalanche beat New Jersey 5-2 at home while their forward fired away without a point and gave the puck away three times.
Martin Necas did not make the score sheet in Colorado's 5-2 win over New Jersey, but he was in the thick of it. He logged 19:35 of ice time over 19 shifts, the most of any forward on the team and fifth among the Avalanche's 18 skaters.
He put four shots on goal: two at even strength and two on the power play. He finished with no goals, no assists and a minus one, plus one hit. Three giveaways were the one blemish on his line.
That is a departure from the shooter he has been this season. Through 13 games he has 6 goals and 10 assists for 16 points, and he had come into the night plus 7. Four shots is a busy night for him, though the puck did not go in.
The Avalanche, at 6-5-1 before this one, got the home win anyway. Necas just was not part of the scoring.
