Tuch Finds the Twine Twice as Capitals Beat Flyers
An early snipe and an empty-netter bookend a night that ends with Washington up 5-2 over a Philadelphia team still searching for road wins.
Alex Tuch had a two-goal night in a 5-2 Capitals win over the Flyers, and he was on the ice for three more goals for than against (plus 3).
The forward logged 18:41 over 21 shifts. That was fourth among Washington skaters and the most of any Capitals forward. He put five shots on goal.
The first goal came at even strength at 1:50 of the opening period. The second, at 17:36 of the third, was an empty-net goal. Strength by strength, he had one even-strength goal on four shots, plus the empty-netter. He had no power-play production and no assists. He also had one hit and one giveaway.
Tuch now has 9 goals in 11 games and 11 points, from 32 shots.
Washington improves to 6-4-0 and sits seventh in the Eastern Conference wild-card race. Philadelphia is 3-7-4.
