Capitals Pepper Woll as Flyers Fall 5-2
Washington got the better looks all night, and the 5-2 final is a fair reflection of that. The Capitals outshot Philadelphia 30-25. Their chances were worth about 4.37 expected goals, which measures how dangerous those chances were, against 2.39 for the Flyers.
Joseph Woll was busy and couldn't keep up. He made 25 saves on 29 shots. At the other end, Logan Thompson stopped 23 of 25, which was solid without being spectacular. Washington also had slightly more shot attempts overall, so the gap was in quality more than volume.
Alex Tuch led the attack with two goals on five shots. Jordan Kyrou also scored twice, and Dylan Strome set up three goals. Those three played together on a line. Jack St. Ivany added two assists from the blue line.
For Philadelphia, Sean Couturier and Matvei Michkov scored. Travis Sanheim rang one off the post, and that was the closest the Flyers came to more.
Washington improves to 6-4-0.
