Sanderson Fires Away in Vegas, but Senators Fall Short
Ottawa's busiest skater found no way past the Golden Knights as the Senators dropped a 4-1 decision in the desert.
Jake Sanderson played more than anyone on the Ottawa Senators in a 4-1 loss at Vegas, and he had nothing to show for it on the scoresheet. The defenceman logged a team-high 26:38 across 29 shifts, first among Ottawa's six defencemen and first among all 18 skaters.
He kept shooting: four shots on goal, three at even strength and one on the power play. None went in, and he finished with no points and a minus one rating. He also had two giveaways and no hits or blocks.
That is a step below his start to the season. Through five games he has one goal and four assists, and he averages 20.6 minutes a night, so this was well above his usual workload. Ottawa came into the night at 8-4-0 after a win in its previous outing.
