Burns Sits Out the Scoring as Colorado Sinks in Nashville
The Avalanche defenceman took a pair of minors in a 6-2 road loss, one of the few marks he left on the game.
Brent Burns had a quiet night in Colorado's 6-2 loss at Nashville. The defenceman finished with no points, one shot on goal and four penalty minutes, and was a plus 1 on a night when his team was beaten by four goals.
He played 12:46 over 17 shifts, which ranked 14th among the 18 Avalanche skaters and sixth among their six defencemen. He had one giveaway and no hits, blocks or takeaways. At even strength he had one shot on goal from two shot attempts, and nothing came on the power play.
That is close to his season pattern. Through 12 games he has three assists, no goals and a minus 2 rating. His 12:46 is also below his average of 16 minutes a game.
The four penalty minutes are the notable part of an otherwise ordinary line. Colorado now sits at 6-4-1 after a night that went the way of the home side.
